The Albanian Minister of Standards and Services recently announced the closure of 95% of public service counters by the end of April. Almost all inquiries and complaints must now be submitted online, and all official documents will be issued electronically from May 1.st 2022.

In the past, only specific public services were available online, through the official government portal “e-Albania”. Citizens were able to file tax returns, receive personal/professional certificates and, more recently, request VAT refunds online. From now on, the government has activated online sections for the issuance of all types of certificates and other public services, while citizens will also be assisted, online, by a particular Helpdesk for any problem, question or report regarding these services. .

The expected results of such changes, as for the previous measures, are the elimination of queues at the counters, the optimization of the quality of public service, a more precise monitoring of deadlines and the reduction of any possibility of corruption or corruption. abuse of officials.

It is emphasized that no workplaces will be affected by the implementation of digital services and that public officials will continue to offer their services online from state offices.
