Bank credit growth in Romania accelerates in April

BUCHAREST (Romania), May 28 (SeeNews) – The value of outstanding loans from Romanian banks to the non-government sector increased 8.3% year-on-year to 293.6 billion lei ($ 72.7 billion / 59.7 billion euros) in April, compared to a growth of 6.6% in March, the central bank BNR said.
Private lei loans increased 13.5 percent over the year to 206.4 billion lei in April, after increasing 11.3 percent in March, the BNR said in a statement on Thursday.
Private loans in foreign currencies fell 2.3% over the year to 87.1 billion lei in April, compared to a 3% decline in March.
