A magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred just 11 minutes ago 31 km northwest of Kukës, Albania, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The earthquake struck at a shallow depth of 10 km below the epicenter near Kukës, Kukës district, Qarku i Kukësit, Albania, early in the morning of Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 2:58 a.m. local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter and depth of the quake could be revised in the coming hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies release their report.
A second report was later released by the RaspberryShake Citizen Seismograph Network, which also listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same earthquake include the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) with magnitude 3.9 and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) with magnitude 4.1.
Based on preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused significant damage, but was likely felt by many people as a slight vibration in the epicenter area.
