Palos Verdes Estates psychic being sued by man who claims she falsely promised him she could remove a curse put in place by the man’s ex-girlfriend for $ 5,100, says complainant is encouraged by a rival medium who seeks to damage his reputation.
Mauro Restrepo filed an October 1 lawsuit in Torrance Superior Court against psychic Sophia Adams and her company, Psychic Love Specialist by Sophia; the medium’s husband, George Adams; his daughter, Tiffany Winston – also known as Tiffany Johnson and Tiffany Adams – and the clairvoyant’s owners, Christ and Polly Koutroumbis.
Restrepo says Adams read his tarot cards and told him he had “mala suerte” or “bad luck” imposed on him by a witch hired by his ex-girlfriend. Adams told Restrepo that unless Adams removed the curse, Restrepo and his family would be “miserable and in danger,” the lawsuit says.
Restrepo seeks at least $ 25,000 in compensatory damages, plus punitive damages.
However, Adams denies saying anything to Restrepo about a curse. She told City News Service that he made an appointment on September 17 and that he had indeed read a tarot card, and subsequently said he was unlucky in love. and that he was looking for some type of healing or meditation.
Adams said she gave him a crystal for $ 5,100. Crystals are commonly used in tarot practice.
Restrepo couldn’t afford the full balance, so he gave Sophia a $ 1,000 cash advance and the two agreed that the crystal would not be ordered until the balance was paid, according to Adams.
Shortly after, Restrepo texted Adams and told him she was a fraud, Adams said. When she texted him back and asked if he wanted his bond refunded, he did not respond, according to Adams.
Adams told CNS that she believed Restrepo had been hired by another medium to get her read and record the session. She believes Restrepo made a video of the reading without her permission.
She says the day after the session with Restrepo someone reached out to her and told her that her rival – whom she didn’t identify by name – had hired Restrepo and that if she didn’t shut down her business within 24 hours and didn’t leave town, the video would be used to shut it down permanently no matter where it went.
The rival’s entire family consists of psychics who want to rule South Bay, including cities like Long Beach, San Pedro, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Palos Verdes Estates, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Gardena, Adams said.
âThey ruined my 35-year-old business,â Adams told CNS. “I have lost my customers because of their misrepresentation because they want my locations.”
